VISIONS

The new 10 Track LP from leaving richmond

leaving richmond is the instrumental, electronic music project from Los Angeles Based composer and producer Jordan Pier

A bit of background on this album…

Following the release of Great Distances I pursued new opportunities in the world of music for television and advertisements. I took a deep dive which bore fruit in multiple ways, particularly in honing my composition, production and engineering capabilities in aspects that were exciting and inspiring. I strove to take all the new skills I had learned and combined it with the organic songwriting I so loved. The melodic, layered guitar as the main and guiding instrument represents a return to roots as I simultaneously embraced new electronic techniques.

As a result of this new outlook on songwriting and experience in the studio the Visions LP was born. Every track on this album is tied to and inspired by a visualization of some sort. Some influences are more general while some are very specific.

Washing Over Us, for example, takes inspiration from the idea that pure emotion can surround, envelop and cleanse us like the beautiful waters in the oceans and lakes around the world. The track Adherence, in contrast, takes inspiration directly from the 1879 painting Joan of Arc by Jules Bastien-Lepage in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Daydreams at the Cannery is my personal soundtrack for a character in the video game What Remains of Edith Finch?, by the developer Giant Sparrow. The beautiful storytelling and cinematic art of this game was overwhelming. Red Orange Light uses sound design in its composition to harken the calming buzz and electronic glow produced by the neon light signs that dot cities all around us - something I have always loved.

What this album has allowed me to do is combine my love for music and imagery into one offering. It is my hope to provide a soundtrack for the thoughts of the listener and offer some respite.

Thank you.

"I’ve listened to a lot of electronic instrumental albums over the years, and Visions stands among the very best. leaving richmond’s skill for writing beautiful and compelling melodies is impressive, and his guitar work and keyboards are truly breathtaking" - Jeff Archuleta Eclectic Music Lover Blog

"Consisting of ten exquisitely composed electronic tracks, the album is flooded with wistful and strangely soft, romantic melodies created by Pier’s delightfully layered guitar playing." David Soulscorch for I Heart Noise

"The flowing pads, the spaced guitars, and the crafted percussion that specifically avoids falling into any pop music tropes; all of this combines beautifully to create a wonderful theatrical atmosphere." - Lars Haur for On the Fringes of Sound
